New terms and conditions From October 2024 Attendance After 25 years in business, we now have to charge for lessons where we are given less than 8 hours notice of cancellation. This is because we can fill most face to face lessons with our on-line students. Also, I don’t need to come to the studio if I know advanced cancellations.
Contact details(mobile phones) Can you make sure that I have an adult’s billing contact details only, for use for billing and scheduling purposes. I will not use a child’s mobile number for safe guarding reasons.
Exams Remember I am an exam tutor: all my students take regular examinations. I mainly teach ABRSM Classical guitar, I also offer RGT and Trinity exams. Teenage children starting lessons will be more likely to want to do the more popular based RGT and Trinity syllabus. I will advise when you start your lessons, but I reserve the right to change exam board if I think it would benefit the learner. Fees Fees are paid in advance in blocks of five. The next block of fees are due after the fourth lesson has been completed. We reserve the right to cancel slots if fees are not paid in a timely manner.
We reserve the right to cancel lessons permanently if we feel lessons are missed regularly. Please note that as a business we have costs such as studio rent which we have to pay in advance, whether you attend or not.
Payment details
We accept payment for lessons by bank transfer or cash, we no longer take cheques.
My studio in Romford
As well as teaching guitar and piano from home in Braiswick Colchester, I still take some guitar classes for two days a week in Romford Essex. On Monday evening I have an adult class of rockers and blues and folk players. I have had this class for over 20 years.

As a music teacher I like to give my students the chance to try out different stringed instruments including: tenor banjo, mandolin, oud and slide guitar.

Holidays
Please note that we no longer work on public bank holidays. There are no lessons over the Christmas school holiday and a reduced time table is operated over Easter and school summer breaks.
The Beatles Piano.
This piano is at Abbey Road Studio London. It is a Steinway upright model K from c1900: it has not been restored since being used by The Beatles in the late C1960's.
The piano used to be in studio 2, but these days it is moved around the building. Terry Rolison saw this piano when he was working on a project for The Beachboys, he was at Abbey Road Studio for 2 days hiring them a Baldwin electric harpsichord for an album, The Beachboys with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The harpsichord has now been sold to the Chris Maene Collection.
